MICHAEL COWGILL
I write comics, fiction, and music in the Washington, D.C., area. I earned a BFA in creative writing from the University of Evansville and an MFA in creative writing (fiction) from George Mason University. My short fiction has appeared In Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, Hedge Apple, and Phoebe. My story "Call Me Chuckles" from EQMM received a 2020 Thriller Award nomination for Best Short Story. For a number of years, I've been a member of the DC Conspiracy, a comics collective in the Washington, D.C., area. During this time, I've written short stories for the comics anthologies District Comics and Wild Ocean (both Fulcrum Publishing, edited by Matt Dembicki). My work has also appeared in Magic Bullet, the DC Conspiracy's free comics newspaper, as well as my self-published comics Lil' P.I.: Summer Special (script and art), Trina Trubble (script and art), and Tales From the Abstract Garage (art by Jacob Warrenfeltz and Art Hondros). I also write and record songs and helped Dann Fox and Surfana record and mix the album Whatever (2014, Participation Trophy Records).
