WHO'S MICHAEL?Michael Cowgill writes fiction and comics and has maintained the blog One Toe In since 2006. While growing up in Peachtree City, Georgia, southwest of Atlanta, Michael and his brother often invented characters and stories as a form of play. Star Wars figures became superheroes, G.I. Joes elite bands of mercenaries. Outside, trees stood in for fantasy landscapes or villains to fight with swords. A game of baseball or basketball turned into a game between two teams, each with invented names, logos, and rosters. In high school, Michael wrote his first short story, four pages about a disillusioned cop in need of a miracle on Christmas Eve. After that, he couldn't stop writing. He later studied creative writing at the University of Evansville and George Mason University. Today, Michael lives and works outside of Washington, D.C., where he's writing novels, short stories, and comics scripts, as well as helping organize a comics anthology. | |
